Robert Rios, 29

Robert Rios, a 29-year-old Latino, died Wednesday, June 27, a day after he was shot in the 8100 block of North Sepulveda Boulevard in Panorama City, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Police responded to a call about a shooting June 26 about 10:48 p.m., according to an LAPD news release.

When authorities arrived, they discovered Rios shot. He was taken by paramedics to a hospital where he was initially listed in critical condition. However, he succumbed to his injuries and died the next day.

Coroner's records show Rios died from a gunshot wound to the head.

During the investigation, detectives learned Rios was standing on the sidewalk when he was approached by an unknown person and shot.

It's believed the assailant then approached a 31-year-old man and shot him as well. The second victim drove himself to the hospital after the shooting and was treated for his injuries.

Investigators are still trying to determine the motive for the shootings. No additional information is available.
