Robert John Summers, 28

Robert Summers, a 28-year-old white man, was killed while allegedly committing a robbery Wednesday, Sept. 1, in the 200 block of East Avenue K-8 in Lancaster, according to authorities.

According to Los Angeles County sheriff's officials, Summers and another man were apparently trying to burglarize a Lancaster business about 3:30 a.m. when the business owner confronted them with a handgun and fired.

According to coroner's records, Summers was shot in the head.

He was taken to a hospital where he died the same afternoon, sheriff's officials said. Investigators said it is possible that the other person with Summers also was shot and wounded. The man fled the scene and has not been located.
