Roberto Lucio, a 25-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Sunday, June 28, in the 1500 block of West 154th Street in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records. 

The incident began at 11:35 a.m. when Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a call about a man being shot. When deputies arrived, they found Lucio in front of the location with gunshot wounds, according to a Sheriff’s Department news release. 

Lucio was taken to Harbor UCLA Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 12:09 p.m., according to coroner’s records. 

Witnesses described the shooter as black, male, and in his early 20s. He fled the scene in what appeared to be a dark-colored, four-door Kia, according to the news release.
