Rodolfo Estuardo Pineda, 33
Rodolfo Pineda, identified by the coroner's office as a 33-year-old white man, died Monday, Oct. 3, hours after he was shot in the 200 block of West 50th Street in South Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Pineda was sitting in a parked car behind a home with a friend about 8:50 p.m. when the pair started arguing. Pineda's friend then shot him in the head, said Sgt. Omar Bazulto of the LAPD's Newton station.
The shooting did not appear to be gang-related, Bazulto said. He was unsure what the men argued about.
City News Service reported the victim might have said words to the effect of: "Well, why don't you shoot me?"
After the shooting, Pineda was taken to a hospital where he later died.
Authorities took the assailant into custody; however his name was not released.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Los Angeles Police Department at (877) LAPD-24-7 (877) 527-3247. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (800) 222-8477.
