Rodrick Paul King, 24, dies nearly 8 years after being shot in Mid-City

Rodrick Paul King, a 24-year-old black man, died Saturday Feb. 24, nearly eight years after he was shot in the 2400 block of Carmona Avenue in Mid-City, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

On April 6, 2009, at about 1:30 p.m., King and two others were walking on a sidewalk when they encountered a man who pulled out a gun and began shooting, said Los Angeles Police Det. Sean Kinchla.

King was left a parapalegic after the shooting and was recently hospitalized again, according to coroner’s records.

King was pronounced dead Feb. 24; the coroner’s office has ruled the case a homicide.
