A story for every victim

Ronald Reeves, 45

Ronald Reeves, a 45-year-old black man, was shot and killed Sunday, Aug. 1, in the 9500 block of Holmes Avenue in Watts, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Police said Reeves and three other people, two men and one woman, were standing on the street about 10 p.m. when a green Honda Accord approached them. Two men got out of the car and came toward the group, and one of the men opened fire with a rifle, said Deon Joseph, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department.

The shooting victims were taken to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. The 25-year-old woman was shot in her torso and legs, but her condition was unknown, Joseph said. Reeves died at the hospital, according to coroner's records.

Police said they did not know the motive behind the shootings.
