Roy Love, 31

Roy Love, a 31-year-old black man, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, eight days after he was shot in the 6300 block of Raymond Avenue in Vermont-Slauson, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Officers responded to a 911 call about a shooting Jan. 17 about 3:45 a.m., said LAPD Criminal Gang and Homicide Det. L. Doster, who is handling the case.

When authorities arrived, they found Love injured in the driver's seat of a parked vehicle, Doster said. The victim was taken to California Hospital Medical Center, where he remained until his death Jan. 25.

According to coroner's records, Love died from a single gunshot wound to the head.

Doster said the incident was a walk-up shooting, however it did not appear to be gang-related.

Investigators described the shooter as a male black. No arrests have been made in connection with the case.
