Russell Edward Salas, 53

Russell Salas, a 53-year-old Latino, died Tuesday, March 8, six months after he was shot in the 9500 block of Natick Avenue North Hills, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said Salas died of complications from several gunshot wounds he sustained on Sept. 28, 2010. After the shooting, he was admitted to a hospital in Mission Hills, where he remained until his death.

At the time of the shooting, Salas was walking with his 15-year-old son when they were approached by a person and shot, Winter said. The son also was hit and died that day, but his death has yet to be ruled a homicide, coroner's officials said.
