Ryan Twyman, a 24-year-old black man, was shot and killed by Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies Thursday, June 6, near East 132nd and South San Pedro streets in Willowbrook, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.

Twyman was sitting in a white sedan with another person in the parking lot of an apartment complex about 7:30 p.m. when the sheriff's department said in a statement that deputies approached him.

“During the contact, a deputy-involved shooting occurred,” the department said in a statement.

It remains unclear what prompted the shooting.

Twyman was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:50 p.m., according to coroner's records.

He was one of three men killed by sheriff's deputies in a single day.

Twyman was a father of three children and also cared for his girlfriend's daughter. A fundraising page has been set up for his family.
