Sallahudin Payne, 23

Sallahudin Payne, a 23-year-old black man, died Sunday, Nov. 18, after being stabbed in the 200 block of East Adams Boulevard, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Payne was stabbed in his chest at 7:30 p.m., allegedly by his neighbor.

Police who were called to investigate the incident transported the victim to California Hospital Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

Darryl Wayne Kenner, a 23-year-old black man from South Los Angeles, was charged with Payne’s murder, according to documents from the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

Kenner was arraigned and pleaded not guilty. He was being held at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility downtown. His next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 18 at the Los Angeles County Municipal Court.
