Samuel Antonio Navarrete, 17

Samuel Navarrete, a 17-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Friday, Jan. 13, in the 10600 block of Firth Boulevard in Watts, according to police and Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 8:45 p.m., Navarette was sitting in the driver’s seat of a black Toyota Corolla with a man when at least one person walked up, asked about gang affiliation and began shooting, said Los Angeles Police Det. Nathan Kouri.

The shooter fled on foot. 

Navarette was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10 p.m., according to coroners’ records. The other person was not injured.
