San Gabriel man sentenced in stabbing death of Burbank resident

Jorge Ernesto Villalobos, a 47-year-old San Gabriel man, was sentenced on Feb. 19 in the stabbing death of Glen Giles, according to the L.A. County district attorney's office.

Giles, a Burbank resident, was stabbed multiple times on Feb. 26, 2008, in the 3000 block of Joaquin Drive. He was pronounced dead at the scene about 10 a.m. The stabbing occurred overnight, said Sgt. Irving Travis of the Burbank Police Department.

Giles ran across the street and collapsed on the front porch of a neighbor's home, Travis said. A day later, police arrested Villalobos on suspicion of murder. Police said Villalobos had grown angry over Giles' relationship with his female friend.

Villalobos was sentenced to 26 years to life in state prison, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Stephanie Mire. The judge also ordered the defendant to pay $8,000 in restitution.

Villalobos was found guilty of first-degree murder on Dec. 19, 2013. During the four-week trial, prosecutors presented evidence that Villalobos had been tracking Giles before killing him because he was dating his former girlfriend.
