Saugus man found guilty of killing girlfriend

A 43-year-old Saugus man was found guilty Sept. 18 of murder in a 2011 killing in Santa Clarita, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

The jury deliberated for about two hours before convicting Eric Allen Earle of killing his girlfriend Karla Brada, according to Deputy Dist. Atty. Elena Abrahamson.

Brada, 31, was found dead Sept. 1, 2011, in the 20700 block of Plum Canyon Road in Santa Clarita, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Coroner's officials later determined that Brada died of asphyxia.

According to Abrahamson, Brada was found dead inside her condo, which she shared with Earle. During the trial, evidence was presented that showed Brada was asphyxiated after being beaten by Earle during a violent argument, said the prosecutor.

Earle, who faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life, is expected back in court on Oct. 27 for sentencing.
