Savoy Niece Anderson, 37

Savoy Niece Anderson, a 37-year-old black man, was shot and killed Saturday, Feb. 27, near Long Beach Avenue and East 14th Street in downtown L.A., according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly before 3:30 a.m., Anderson got into an argument with a man who pulled out a gun and shot him, said LAPD Det. Richard Arciniega. The gunman fled on foot, but it’s unknown in which direction.

A preliminary report suggesting that Anderson had chased down a purse snatcher was erroneous, Arciniega said.

Anderson was pronounced dead at 3:37 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
