Sergio Ricardo Fuentes III, a 28-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Tuesday, June 13, in the 8400 block of South Main Street in Florence, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly after 5:30 p.m., Fuentes was standing in the driveway of a home when a sedan drove up and a person got out of the car, police said. The person began shooting at Fuentes, then got back into the sedan, which was driven away eastbound on East 84th Street.

Fuentes was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:07 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Fuentes was not a documented gang member, police said.

Detectives are trying to determine the motive for the shooting.
