Shannon James Stephenson, 49

Shannon James Stephenson, a 49-year-old white man, died July 27 after he was intentionally struck by a vehicle at the corner of West 14th Street and Pacific Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

Long Beach Police officers were sent to the scene around 9:40 p.m. regarding a vehicle-pedestrian collision, according to a department news release. 

The officers found Stephenson lying in the street, according to the release. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:59 p.m., according to coroner’s records. The cause of death was listed as blunt force traumatic injuries. 

Investigators believe the driver intentionally struck Stephenson, but they have not released a motive or a description of a suspect.
