Shaqull Henderson, 18

Shaqull Henderson, an 18-year-old black man, was shot and killed Saturday, May 12, in the 11200 block of Hawthorne Boulevard in Hawthorne, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Sheriff's homicide Det. Frank Salerno, who is handling the case, said deputies were notified of a shooting about 9:50 p.m.

When authorities arrived, they found the victim shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

During the investigation, detectives learned unknown suspects were in a car when a person got out and shot Henderson.

There have been no arrests made in connection with the case.

The shooter was described as a male black, officials said.

Salerno said the victim was a gang member and the shooting is believed to be gang-related.
