Shavonna Jones, 30 [Updated]

Shavonna Jones, a 30-year-old black woman, was shot to death Saturday, May 22, in the 10500 block of Central Avenue in Green Meadows, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

The shooting occurred about 8:40 a.m. at a home, said Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Cleon Joseph. "[Jones] was killed by her husband in the domestic dispute," Joseph said.

Local television news reported that Jones was a security officer who had taken out a restraining order on her husband, and that she was killed while her two sons were sleeping. Her body was discovered by her 15-year old son, according to KTLA.

Detectives on Monday said they are continuing to search for her husband.

[Updated at 3:20 p.m., Aug. 12: Minnesota police arrested Shavonna Jones' husband, Dejame Henderson, a 30-year-old black man, Tuesday in connection with her death.

Investigators are currently en route to Minnesota to interview Henderson and begin the extradition process to return him to California.

Upon his arrival, it's expected Henderson will be charged with murder, Kirby said.]

I understand your love for your nephew and your wanting to support him,BUT,PLEASE NOT HERE. This page is for Shavonna and her family to read for support and uplifting words of encouragement. Do you think they want to read about how you feel about the man who may be responsible for killing her? for taking her from her children. The police did not suspect him of this horrible crime without some kind of proof of his involvement. If he is guilty or not that is for the judge and jury but he definately is top of the list of suspects. He may have loved her as you say,but, it seems like he was not able to let go of the relationship when it was over. If he is responsible for this crime he is a selfish, thoughtless , evil , poor excuse of a man. Anyone who could kill a mother in the house where her children could find her is less than zero to me. Thank God for the small comfort it brings to know that he is in jail and may be brought to justice if and when he is found guilty. Thank you LAPD and FBI for doing a excellent job on locating and bringing this nut into custody. God Bless this family and everyone who knows this family keep them in prayer, now is the time they will really need it.

For all of you who feel you have the right to judge my nephew you don't cause for one you were not there in the house when this horrible incident occured and two it's the law that we are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. God said Judge and let you be Judged with the same measure. I do not believe honestly in my heart that my nephew is capable of a cruel and heartless act to murder someone he loved so dear in an execution style type murder in cold blood. He would have to be full of hatred and anger and considered a monster my nephew is not a monster> He loved Shavonna dearly I pray that you all find peace and I sympathize greatly for your loss and hope you folks find peace and happiness. Everyday is such a blessing to all people young and old that can wake up and begin a new day. Death is a final notice that comes in so many different ways and effects some many people that one cannot imagine about. When God calls an Angel (that is someone who is truly loved) it is heard by people from everywhere. I do not know the young woman who suddenly and without acceptable justification was taken from her family and friends. But I can sense she was a good person because I did hear about about the very sad and cowardly way she was given her final notice. May God through his tender mercies, salvation, and love, give her family, friends and especially her sons strength, guidance, protection, wisdom, and peace through this unexpected sad journey of life.

I am so saddened by this, I did not know this beautiful lady, but just the thought of her dying in this manner, her child seeing the aftermath, and to not have their mom is heart wrenching. My sympathy to Shavonna's sons, mother, sister, brother, family, and co-workers. Something needs to be done about Domestic Violence, love should never ever hurt and kill. I am sorry Shavonna that you thought you somehow found love and realized too late. Men and women STOP hurting each other, we don't have long on this earth. You took a mother!! Her children will never see her again. What did you gain? You hurt a lot of people, yes you did, people that truly loved and appreciated this human being. The world knows who you are, and you can run but you can't hide, God saw what YOU did, you won't get away. To the family and friends of Shavonna-may God keep you and give you his loving arms to shield you from this pain. I did not know Shavonna but her story touched me deeply. I feel very sad for her boy's because they are sad about losing a Mother and to find out that it may be the Father who took her life-that is a double blow to the young men. Stay strong and remember all the things your Mother taught you, just be good to each other and keep your eye's on the dreams that you shared with your mother and keep the promises you made to her. I know from what Rita said that she was a very good , loving mom and she would have never left this earth if she did not know her boy's would be well taken care of by her family. Your mom is looking down on you and she wants you to know she is looking out for you two just like always. To the aunt's and Shavonna's Mother- i lost my baby sister seven years ago (she had cancer) and she left two boy's behind and it was not easy but we were able to carry on- her oldest son is graduating from senior high this year and we are so proud- it was very hard but through prayer you all will make it, it will take a lot of time, faith in god and love, but you will survive this tragedy.
