Luis Mendez, a 17-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Wednesday, Dec. 25, while he was walking in the 4500 block of Randolph Street in Maywood, according to Los Angeles County sheriff's officials.
The shooting occurred at about 10 p.m. on Christmas Day near the border with Bell, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Mendez was chased by four men and then shot, according to sheriff's homicide detectives. The suspects fled in a vehicle. The motive for the shooting was not immediately known.
