Steven Gerard Brown, 32

Steven Brown, a 32-year-old black man, died Saturday, May 21, four days after he was beaten in the 600 block of Cerritos Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Officers responded to a call reporting a man found unconscious in a driveway about 7 a.m. on May 17, according to a Long Beach Police Department news release.

Brown was discovered with blood on his face. He was taken to a hospital, where his condition was listed as critical, police said.

During the investigation, detectives learned Brown was assaulted and robbed at a house before being dragged away to a different location. Investigators identified the alleged assailants as Emmanuel Walker, a 35-year-old black man, and Norvin Dizadre, a 33-year-old black man. Both were arrested on suspicion of assault and robbery on May 19.

Since Brown's death, authorities said murder allegations were added to the charges facing Walker and Dizadare.

The two are currently being held at the Men's Central Jail in downtown. Their next court appearance is scheduled for May 31 at the Long Beach Superior Court.
