Terence Leeuwen Butler, 48

Terence Butler, a 48-year-old black man, was shot and killed Wednesday, Aug. 18, in the 1800 block of West 67th Street in Chesterfield Square, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Butler was walking near an alley about 2:19 a.m. when and unknown assailant walked up and shot him, according to an LAPD news release. The assailant was last seen running from the area, authorities said.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene, and Butler was pronounced dead at 2:27 a.m., according to coroner's records.

Investigators believe the shooting was gang-related.

At 48 years old I would hope he was not living a gang lifestyle and that the police are just saying that it was just a gang member who shot this man. Regardless of the circumstances I ask for peace on our streets. I am not sure if the government is not really concerned with all these murders-I mean everyday someone is shot and killed on the streets of Los Angeles, Hawthorne, Compton, Carson...the list goes on and on. Or if this is the fault of the community. Where are the Fathers and Brothers with the good since to teach our male youth the right things to do? What happened to the Grandfathers and Uncles that made sure all the men in the family , starting at a very young age;learned how to be a gentleman and how to provide for their families by working hard everyday and being respectful law abiding citizens. Why are many of the young black and latino men standing on corners drinking beer and smoking weed? Why are they not looking for a job instead of looking for the next victim? What in the HELL is going on? Am I alone in thinking that something is VERY,VERY,VERY WRONG HERE. What is it going to take to WAKE UP everbody and STOP ALL THIS KILLING AND GANG BANGING!!!!-Are we just going to let innocent children,grandmothers and babies continue to be slaughtered and do nothing? I pray for us all
