Terence Leeuwen Butler, 48

Terence Butler, a 48-year-old black man, was shot and killed Wednesday, Aug. 18, in the 1800 block of West 67th Street in Chesterfield Square, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Butler was walking near an alley about 2:19 a.m. when and unknown assailant walked up and shot him, according to an LAPD news release. The assailant was last seen running from the area, authorities said.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene, and Butler was pronounced dead at 2:27 a.m., according to coroner's records.

Investigators believe the shooting was gang-related.
