A story for every victim

Teresa Magdalena Cardoza, 28

Teresa Cardoza, a 28-year-old Latina, was strangled to death Saturday, Oct. 17, in the 2400 block of South Myrtle Avenue in an area of unincorporated Los Angeles County located near Monrovia, Irwindale and Arcadia, authorities said.

Cardoza was allegedly strangled with a belt by her boyfriend, Guillermo Marinero, a 28-year-old Latino.

Authorities said they believe Marinero attacked Cardoza during an argument in a car early in the morning. He then drove the vehicle to the Monrovia Police Department, where he surrendered.

Cardoza was found dead in the car about 1:30 a.m., according to Deputy Bill Brauberger of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Marinero was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Alhambra on charges of murder. He is being held in lieu of $1-million bail, according to jail records.
