Teresa Ortiz, 17
Teresa Ortiz, a 17-year-old Latino woman, was shot in the head and killed Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008 in the 15000 block of Bassett Street in North Hollywood, according to coroner's officials.
Ortiz, of North Hollywood, was a passenger in a car when she was shot in the early morning, said Craig Harvey, chief of investigations for the L.A. County coroner’s office.
Sgt. Ruby Malachi, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department, said a dark-colored PT Cruiser drove by and someone inside fired several shots at Ortiz. Police believe the shooting was gang-related.
