Terrance Leon Scott, 36

Terrance Scott, a 36-year-old black man, was shot and killed Wednesday, Nov. 10, in the 15900 block of Vermont Avenue in Vermont Knolls, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Deputies responded to a "shots fired" call about 3:44 p.m., according to a sheriff's department news release. When authorities arrived, they found Scott and another black man suffering from gunshot wounds.

Scott was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said, while the other victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

During the investigation, detectives learned that three black men came to the apartment complex and confronted the two victims, at which point the shooting occurred.

Authorities said the assailants were last seen driving southbound on Vermont Avenue in a light green compact sedan.
