Thomas Carr Jr., 47

Thomas Carr Jr., a 47-year-old black man, was shot and killed Tuesday, June 19, in the 900 block of West Compton Boulevard in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said Carr was involved in an argument with a person and shot about 9:15 p.m.

Authorities were called and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. According to coroner's records, Carr died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Winter had no other details about the case.
