Times coverage: Four charged with witness intimidation in Long Beach murder trial
Prosecutors charged four men Monday with witness intimidation in an ongoing Long Beach gang murder trial.
Authorities allege the foursome were working in the interest of a criminal street gang whose two members are on trial for murder.
Jason Trejo and Eric Benites, are charged in the Jan. 6, 2008, killing of Florentino Ross-Rivera, a 16-year-old Latino, who was shot to death in the 1500 block of Cedar Avenue in Long Beach.
Trego and Benites are also charged with attempted murder in five other cases.
Prosecutors allege that Jesus Alberto Peres, 21, and Efren Flores, 19, confronted a male witness on May 4. The witness was threatened again July 7 by Jose Garcia, 19.
On June 9, prosecutors said Bernardo Villareal, 19, attempted to intimidate another female witness.
