Times coverage: Los Angeles Police offer $50,000 reward in Sun Valley killing
Authorities on Thursday offered a reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for killing a man at a Sun Valley taco stand.
Los Angeles police said they are offering $50,000 for details about the assailant who fatally shot Vartan Avatyan, an 18-year-old white man, Oct. 17.
Avatyan and several friends were at a taco stand about 12:40 a.m. when a man described by witnesses as a Latino walked up and started shooting at him, according to an LAPD news release.
Avatyan, who was wounded, was taken to a hospital, where he died a short time later, police said.
The shooter is believed to have fled the area in a blue compact car.
