Times coverage: Not guilty plea from suspect in Hakobyan slaying
Alberd Tersargyan pleaded not guilty Monday to the murder of Karine Hakobyan, a 38-year-old Hollywood woman found slumped in her car on March 26 with a gunshot wound to the back of the head.
Tersargyan was arrested April 20 in connection with her slaying. He is incarcerated at the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic and is scheduled to appear again in court May 6, according to jail records. Tersargyan's age is listed as 73, in the sheriff's inmate locator, but police said they believe he is 59.
Authorities are still trying to determine if Tersargyan played a part in the deaths of Hakobyan's husband Khachik Safaryan, 43, and youngest daughter Lusine, 8, who were both shot to death in their apartment 18 months prior. The killings shocked the area's tight-knit Armenian community.
