Tomas Hernandez, 50

Tomas Hernandez, a 50-year-old Latino, was fatally stabbed and beaten Saturday, May 27, in the 8100 block of South Avalon Boulevard in Florence, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 2:20 a.m., officers responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon and found Hernandez face down in the street in a pool of blood, said Los Angeles Police Det. Dave Garrido.

Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:41 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

A witness told police that a Latino of an unknown age kicked and punched Hernandez, who was screaming for help, in the face multiple times.

After several minutes, the suspect ran away.
