Tommy Christoph Gamez, 25
Tommy Christoph Gamez, a 25-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Friday, Jan. 1, in the 600 block of Gerhart Avenue in East Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Residents of the single-family residential area called the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department about 12:40 a.m. to report that a driver had been shot, then struck three parked cars, Lt. Dave Coleman said.
The residents pulled the driver, later identified as Gamez, from his car, because they feared it would catch on fire, according to coroner's records.
Gamez with pronounced dead at the scene at 12:54 a.m. with multiple gunshot wounds, according to coroner's records. He lived about a mile from the shooting scene.
Coleman said no one reported seeing the shooting, only hearing the sounds of at least one speeding vehicle, gunshots and then a crash.
