Treavor Tramaine Robinson, 22

Treavor Robinson, a 22-year-old black man, was fatally shot Thursday, Aug. 22, in the 800 block of West Colden Avenue in Vermont Vista, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

Robinson was standing in front of an apartment building with another person shortly after 10 p.m. when a caravan of several vehicles drove past, said LAPD Det. Supervisor Sal LaBarbera.

A person in a light-colored sport-utility vehicle fired several shots, striking Robinson and a 46-year-old man, LaBarbera said.

Robinson was taken to a hospital where he died at 10:35 p.m., said coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter. The other man is expected to survive.

Treavor was also one of my son's best friends, we are are still reeling from his passing. Whenever Treavor came over to spend the night, unlike most of our son's friends, Treavor would venture out of his room to sit and talk to hubby and I. He was inquisitive, intelligent, talented and yes, very funny. I will never forget one time in particular, after spending the night, the next morning while showering Treavor was singing to the top of his voice - I mean singing like a 40 year old man showering after putting in overtime working on the railroad! I came out of the bedroom and asked my son, "Is that Treav?" He just laughed and said, "Yeah, that's Treav." He was such a happy young man, comfortable in his skin and he brought joy to everyone that was fortunate enough to know him. We are still comforting our son on the loss of his friend. Our hearts are heavy.

My kids kept asking me, "Mom don't you remember Treavor Robinson from PHS? From Arrogant? He was so funny. Always smiling."

"Mom, someone just shot and killed him; I heard he was just standing outside!"

I do remember this young man. His smile. He always said, hi; never too cool to say hello to a parent, when I was at the school or some local sporting event.

My condolences to his family and friends. May you find peace in the memories you share. Such a pleasant guy!

This complete disregard for human life is appalling. This loss, yet again...so senseless.

It makes perfect sense that his family and friends are inviting ALL who were touched by Treavor in any way to feel welcome to attend his homecoming celebration and show their love and respect for this charming, funny, sweet young man taken from all way too soon.

He was the type of person you didn't need to know very well; his life force was so strong a positive impression was left with you immediately. I had not seen Treavor in several years, yet when I saw his smile in the photos people were posting it took me right back to last time I saw him in person.

I am angry at the cowards responsible for this tragedy and I am confident there will be a reckoning someday. However, I am even more angry at the citizens of our communities for allowing our youth to terrorize our streets unchecked.

What a disgrace you all are! Each and everyone of you who know the recreants responsible for Treavor's slaughter are silent conspirators to murder.

Come forward with information in anyway you deem appropriate.

No ones child, sibling, cousin, friend should be taken away from their loved ones so casually.
