Troy Darnell Washington, 52

Troy Darnell Washington, a 52-year-old black man, was shot and killed Tuesday, Oct. 24, near west 57th and south Figueroa streets in the Vermont-Slauson area of South Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Washington was standing on the corner about 8:40 p.m., when he got into an argument with a person across the street, Los Angeles Police Det. Chris Barling said.

The person pulled out a gun and shot Washington, Barling said.

Washington ran north on Figueroa Street and collapsed, police said. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:31 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

It’s unknown what prompted the argument, Barling said. The gunman fled west on west 58th Street on foot.
