Brandon Garrido, 16

Brandon Garrido, a 16-year-old Latino, died Monday, May 10, in the 3200 block of East 1st Street in Boyle Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

[Garrido was initially listed by the coroner as an unidentified Latino, believed to be 25 to 30.]

Brandon, suffering from a gunshot wound, was found by a passerby about 2:25 a.m., said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office.

The person flagged down the fire department who pronounced Brandon dead at the scene, said LAPD Hollenback Det. Victor Marin, who is handling the investigation.

There were no witnesses to the shooting, and investigators do not have any leads on a possible suspect. Brandon was not a gang member, Marin said.

@ Syscom u consistently lie on these blogs....u have a habit of keeping ur comments to yourself when a Caucasian is murdered(look back and u will see that I called u out on several)....and consistently use that word sociopath to describe minority victims and suspects...however when I challenged u to come work with some of these same people to understand them u declined to comment(look back)....Syscom is a person that is stuck at home and rarely goes on vacation....I just came back from vacation and read some past post and u just seem eager to piss people off....that is a sign of a sociopath....one who is obsessed with a particular thing...u are obsessed with annoying those that are grieving....this shows that u were lef unattended during those first eighteen months of ur life hence missing out on nurturing from ur parents....this turns into trust vs mistrust which turns I to u looking to cause the same grief to others that ur parents caused to you...I suggest that u seek help whomever you are...I'm willing to bet that if no one responded to your comments u would actually find it hard to keep living

It's unbelievable that a lot of you are blaming this young kid for his own death. Being out late at night, if that was the case, does not mean is okay for anyone to be killed. How about making our city safer where any of us should feel free to take a walk during the mid night and be safe? CJ, you brought up good points to the table. Most bloggers are assuming he was out and about at 2am, when is very posssible that he was murdered at an early time. As a parent I wouldn't let my kids go out at the time, but if for whatever reason they happen to be out at any time I think our city should be safe enough for our kids to come back home. The focus should be on the people who commited this crime and put them away. Remember he was only 16 and a lot of teenagers don't rationalize like adults do. So for all of you who blame this kid for hiw own death shame on you!

ok.every one seems to not know the real truth behind this,not even me but i could tell you this much that i heard.That goes for that a-hole that keeps saying bad things about him and he dont even know nothing about this.so i heard that he went to my cousins house around 8:00pm to hang out with him, but he wasnt there because me and him went to see IRON MAN 2.SO then he went to his other friends house named jimmy which lives a couple of blocks away from his.Now i guess when he was going home maybe around 12:ooam and some bastard shot him because he thought he was gang related and later on they found his body.Now why they found him so late is because no one in this part of the city cares for no one else so maybe people seen the body earlier but did not care until somebody thought it was the right thing to help.Now this settles it better for every one especially that a-hole syscome3 talking about my friend like that.

Syscom3: You're all stats and lack humanity. You must live in a retirement community with no kids present because even the best kids, from the best families, in the best neighborhoods like to party and stay up late. I agree with you on occasion when the murdered are undoubtedly gangsters, but you choose to assume that people are guilty first and without knowing the facts. You need to take a vacation and not be so bitter. You could be maligning a kid that was being held against his will for hours, shot, and then dumped there. You seem to believe that if someone j-walks and gets hit by a car, they deserve that. Like I said, I have no sympathy for gangsters, but often times good people actually die too. You spend too much time judging out of fear. Do you see what you've become? You're a sad little man.
