Detectives believe that Saquic was caught in the middle of an argument between local gang members that escalated into a shooting, the LAPD said.

Saquic died Friday at a hospital, where he had been in critical condition after being shot once in the head Feb. 28.

He was found lying on a sidewalk near MacArthur Park, the LAPD said. He was a resident of Los Angeles.

At least 128 slayings have been reported within two miles of the shooting scene, according to The Times Homicide Report database.
