Charles Gonzalez, 51 [Updated]
Charles Gonzalez, a 51-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Monday, Feb. 7, in the 800 block of Green Avenue in Westlake, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
[For the record, Feb. 9, 2:05 p.m.: An earlier version of this post, based on preliminary information from the coroner's office, listed the victim as an unknown 41-year-old male. Also at the time, the coroner's office did not have an incident address.]
Gonzalez was found shot several times in the doorway of a residence about 5:15 a.m., said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office.
Authorities were called and Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene.
The coroner's office had no other details about the case.
The Times has contacted detectives to obtain more information about the homicide investigation and will post an update as soon as possible.
[Update Feb. 16: Gonzales was cooking breakfast when he heard a knock at his apartment door. When he opened the door, he was shot by an unknown assailant, according to an LAPD news release.
Another person who lived at the residence neither saw the shooting, nor the shooter, police said.
A motive for the shooting remains unknown, officials said.
