Vance Byrd, 18

Vance Byrd, an 18-year-old black man, was shot and killed Friday, Dec. 4 in the 9200 block of South Hoover Street in Vermont Vista, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 9:15 p.m., Byrd was standing in front of a home with a group of people when a man approached and fired multiple rounds, LAPD Det. Rick Gordon said.

Byrd was the only one injured and pronounced dead at the scene at 9:22 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

Gordon said that the gunman was last seen on foot. Police do not yet have a suspect description.
