A story for every victim

Virginia Refai, 50

Virginia Refai, a 50-year-old white woman, died of blunt head trauma and right eye hematoma on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, more than three weeks after she was found along train tracks in Lawndale. She had been hospitalized since being found near the 4600 block of 173rd Street. Authorities said they believed Refai had been  attacked.

Refai, who was homeless, frequented  Lawndale, Redondo Beach and adjacent beach areas, Los Angeles County sheriff's officials said.

In early December, the Lawndale City Council offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for her death. Anyone with information is asked to call Sgt. W. Marsh at (323) 890-5555 or Det. T. Bernstein at (323) 890-5610.
