Wade Lamar Vanzie, 32

Wade Lamar Vanzie, a 32-year-old black man, was shot Sunday, March 24, in the 800 block of East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Historic South-Central, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Vanzie, who was critically wounded by gunfire at a family party in South Los Angeles, died more than five hours after he was taken to the hospital.

Authorities said the shooting occurred about 12:35 a.m. after a guest was asked to leave the party and returned with a gun.

The gunman fled after shooting three people, including two women, one of whom was hit in the neck and the other in the chest. The victims were taken to L.A. County/USC Medical Center, where Vanzie was pronounced dead at 7:15 a.m.

Police said the women are expected to survive. The gunman remains at large.
