Webster Anthony Brown III, 50

Webster Anthony Brown III, a 49-year-old black man, died Aug. 17, nearly two weeks after he was shot in the 1500 block of West 53rd Street in Vermont Square, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

On Aug. 4, about 12:55 a.m., Brown was standing on the front porch of a home when he was shot, said LAPD Det. Dave Garrido.

A person inside the home heard the gunfire and came outside to find Brown on the porch with a gunshot wound to the head.

Brown was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead Aug. 17 at 10:18 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
