A story for every victim

Will Alfredo Navarro Leiva, 40

Will Alfredo Navarro-Leiva, a 40-year-old Latino, died Monday, Nov. 6, after he was stabbed in the 7300 block of Cloverlawn Drive in South Gate, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Navarro-Leiva was outside, in front of his home, at 5:50 p.m., when he got into an argument with his 16-year-old neighbor, said  Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza.

“During the argument, the suspect approached him and stabbed him in the chest,”  Mendoza said. “We think they’ve had problems in the past, and the argument escalated for some unknown reason.”

The weapon was described as a large knife, Mendoza said.

Navarro-Leiva was pronounced dead at the scene at 6 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

The 16-year-old, a white male, was arrested and has been charged with murder in juvenile court, Mendoza said. His name is not being released because of his age.

Navarro-Leiva lived in the house with his mother and other family members, Mendoza said.
