Yoani Flores, 20

Yoani Flores, a 20-year-old Latino, died Wednesday, April 25, eleven days after he was stabbed in the 1500 block of Pacific Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Flores was in an alley with an acquaintance on April 14 when the two got into a fight, according to a Long Beach Police Department news release.

At some point, the acquaintance stabbed Flores. The victim was taken to a hospital where he remained until his death April 25 at 3 p.m.

Coroner's records show Flores sustained a stab wound to the upper left chest resulting in a laceration of the right ventricle.

After the stabbing the assailant was apprehended by police. He has since been identified as Arturo Villareal, a 21-year-old Latino.

He is currently being held in lieu of $1.05 million bail at the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic. His next court appearance is scheduled for June 5 at the Long Beach Superior Court.

Investigators said a motive for the killing remains unknown.
