Alex Gines, a 23-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, May 17, in the 900 block of South Kern Avenue in East Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Gines was walking along Kern Avenue when he was shot by a gunman. Investigators do know whether the gunman fled on foot or in a car and do not have a description of the person.
About 1:30 a.m. Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies received a call reporting gunshots and screaming, according to a news release from the department.
Deputies arrived to find Gines suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:23 a.m., said coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter.
