A story for every victim

Allen Gomez, 26

Allen Gomez, an 26-year-old Latino, died Thursday, Sept. 29, after he was shot days earlier in the 1100 block of East 22nd Street in Historic South-Central, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

On Sept. 27 shortly before 9:30 p.m., Gomez was shot “most likely by a rival gang,” said Los Angeles Police Det. Dan Gersna.

Residents in the area called police after hearing gunshots, Gersna said, and Gomez was found in the street. The shooter or shooters fled on foot, Gersna said.

Gersna declined to say if more than one person was involved in the shooting.

Gomez was taken to a hospital, where he remained for two days until he was pronounced dead at 5:03 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
