Andre Duane McMihelk Jr. (2016-05-14)

Andre Duane McMihelk Jr., a 32-year-old black man, was shot and killed Saturday, May 14, in the 1000 block of South Nestor Avenue in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly after 7:30 p.m., McMihelk had just parked his car and was walking across the street when a black sedan, possibly a Nissan, approached, said Lt. Dave Coleman with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

A person got out of the right passenger side of the car, pulled out a rifle and shot McMihelk, Coleman said. 

McMihelk was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:52 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

McMihelk was one of four people killed in Compton that weekend, authorities said.
