Antonio Vasquez, 17

Antonio Vasquez, a 17-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Tuesday, May 23, in the 700 block of East 79th Street in Florence, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 1 p.m., Vasquez and a 22-year-old man drove up to a market, said Los Angeles Police Det. Dave Garrido.

As Vasquez got out of the car, a male with a gun walked out of the market opened fire, Garrido said. Vasquez tried to run away but was wounded and collapsed on a street corner.

The gunman fled on foot. Vasquez was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:22 p.m., according to coroner’s records. The 22-year-old was not injured.
