Charles Alexander Young, 25

Charles Alexander Young, a 25-year-old black man, was shot and killed Monday, Sept. 4, in the 1000 block of East 83rd Street in the Florence area of South Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly before 10:40 a.m., police said Young and another man got into a dispute over a parking space. The man pulled a gun and shot Young repeatedly, LAPD Det. Dave Garrido said.

When officers responded, they found Young on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds, Garrido said.

Young was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:19 a.m., according to coroner’s records.

Detectives have identified a suspect in the shooting, police said.
