A story for every victim

Corin Michella Hensley, 25

Corin Michella Hensley, a 25-year-old black woman, was shot to death Friday, Jan. 13, in the 2200 block of Larchmont Street in Pomona, according to coroner’s records.

About 11 a.m., Pomona police responded to a call about a shooting, Sgt. Brian Hagerty said. The officers saw a sedan in a frontyard, and Hensley and Lavelle Deshawn Brown, 34, were inside with multiple gunshot wounds, Hagerty said.

Hensley was pronounced dead at 11:29 a.m., and Brown was declared dead a few minutes later, according to coroner’s records.

Hagerty said Brown was driving the vehicle near the intersection of Larchmont Street and Collingswood Drive when a dark-colored sedan pulled alongside. A gunman then opened fire, striking Hensley and Brown. As the gunman’s car sped away, Brown’s vehicle accelerated forward then stopped on a front lawn, Hagerty said.

Police are pursuing all leads and looking for witnesses.
