A story for every victim

Daniel Salcido, 24

Daniel Salcido, a 24-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Saturday, Dec. 2, in the 2400 block of Manville Street in Pomona, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Pomona police responded about 11:15 p.m. to a call about a shooting, according to Sgt. Brian Hagerty. Officers found Salcido and two others in a dark-colored SUV. Salcido had been shot several times and died at the scene at 11:30 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

The other two men were taken to a hospital and later released, Hagerty said.

The three men had left a family party earlier that night and were driving to a friend’s house before the shooting, officials said. A white SUV pulled alongside the passenger side of the vehicle where Salcido was sitting, and the two drivers got into an argument, Hagerty said. The driver of the white SUV pulled a gun and fired into the other vehicle, witnesses told police.

Pomona police ask anyone with information about the shooting to call the department at (909) 620-2085. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
