Darian Anthony Lytle, 23

Darian Lytle, a 23-year-old black man, was shot and killed Friday, July 4, in the 7200 block of Petrol in Paramount, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Lytle was visiting another person at an apartment complex and stepped outside about 10 p.m. to get something from his car, said Det. Jeffrey Cochran with the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.

As Lytle was walking to his car, he was confronted by a gunman, who asked Lytle where he was from then opened fire, Cochran said. The gunman fled on foot.

Lytle was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:46 p.m. Cochran said he doesn’t believe Lytle knew the gunman.
